Which Confluence alternative suits you depends on how your team works with knowledge. Atlassian describes Confluence as a team workspace for creating and sharing knowledge; there, knowledge is created mainly as pages in spaces. Nexoria is a European work platform with its own knowledge store. Your team stores documents in Nexoria Drive, writes texts, spreadsheets and presentations in Nexoria Office and creates reports and presentations directly in the Nex AI chat. Document search finds content by its meaning, and Nex answers questions about it in natural language with source citations. Files and the knowledge index are stored on servers in Germany, where search also runs; answers from Nex are generated by Mistral AI by default.

Confluence alternatives: three types of tools
Anyone looking for an alternative to or replacement for Confluence will come across three types of tools. They differ in where knowledge is created and who handles operation.
| Type of tool | How your team works with it | Fits if |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud wiki software, for example Confluence Cloud | Knowledge is written as pages, organised in areas and maintained collaboratively. The provider operates the software. AI search and AI chat are included depending on the provider and plan, with Confluence Cloud from Standard via Rovo. | Your team deliberately writes down knowledge editorially and wants to maintain a page structure. |
| Self-hosted or open-source wiki | Works like a cloud wiki, but the software runs on your own servers or with a hosting provider. Updates, backups and maintenance are handled by you or your service provider. | You want to keep operations in your own hands and plan staff for this. |
| Work platform with a knowledge store, document search and AI, for example Nexoria | Knowledge is contained in documents, spreadsheets, presentations, minutes, scans and recordings. The platform stores it, makes it findable by meaning and answers questions with source citations. Your team continues working directly with the results. | Your knowledge is mainly created in documents and your team needs to find it, query it and work with it quickly. |
If you are still facing the basic decision between a wiki, file storage and AI search, you will find the following in the selection guide: Types of knowledge management tools at a glance, with criteria and a checklist. You will find details on self-hosting in the Nextcloud comparison. If you are evaluating Notion as a workspace, read the Notion comparison. If your company already works with Microsoft 365 and you are considering SharePoint, you will find an assessment in the SharePoint comparison. If you are switching your entire Office environment, see the comparison with the Microsoft 365 alternative.
Confluence and Nexoria compared
The table compares Confluence Cloud (according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026) with Nexoria (according to the Nexoria website, as of 29.09.2026). The numbers in square brackets refer to the sources at the end of the page.
| Criterion | Confluence Cloud | Nexoria |
|---|---|---|
| Basic principle | Team workspace for knowledge (Atlassian's self-description): teams write knowledge as pages and organise it in spaces, with page tree, page versioning, templates, macros, databases and whiteboards. [1] [24] | Work platform with its own knowledge store: documents, files and knowledge are held in workspaces, document search and Nex make the content accessible, and Nexoria Office and the Nex AI chat process it further. [20] |
| Create knowledge | Pages with templates and macros, plus databases and whiteboards. [1] | Texts, spreadsheets and presentations in Nexoria Office with Doc, Calc and Slides, which open and save DOCX, XLSX and PPTX; presentations, technical reports and document comparisons directly in the Nex AI chat (Documents in Nex); scans and recordings via OCR and transcription. [20] |
| Find and query knowledge | Quick search in the navigation area and advanced search across spaces, people profiles and attachments. [23] From Standard, also Rovo with Search, Chat and Agents: search across Confluence and connected apps, answers in natural language; Rovo respects existing permissions. No Rovo on the Free plan. [1] [7] [25] | Document search by meaning and by exact terms, with source and preview; Nex answers questions in natural language with source references. [20] |
| AI in the plan | Rovo at no extra cost from Standard. Allowance for Confluence as a standalone product: Standard 25 credits per user per month and 100 indexed objects per user, Premium 70 credits and 250 objects, Enterprise 150 credits and 625 objects; the credits are pooled across the organisation. Rovo Search in Atlassian apps does not consume credits. Billing of overage has been announced for most meters from 3 December 2026. For the contradictory descriptions of the default setting, see the pricing section checked separately on 13 October 2026. [33] [34] [35] Free without Rovo. [1] [4] [26] | Nex is included in the core product: Base 3 million AI tokens per user per month, Pro 5 million, Enterprise on an individual basis. Document search does not consume tokens. [16] |
| Permissions | Three levels: global permissions, space permissions and restrictions on individual content. Not customisable on the Free plan. [3] | Workspaces with the roles Admin, Member and Viewer, Collab workspaces for external partners. Sharing permissions also apply to document search, Nex and chatbots and are checked server-side on every access. [20] |
| Tasks and projects | Jira work items can be embedded in Confluence pages as a list or as a count, using search or JQL. [5] | Tasks and appointments are created from the conversation with Nex and assigned to a workspace, as are calendars. [20] |
| Number of users | Free up to 10 users per site; Standard, Premium and Enterprise up to 250,000 users per site; Enterprise up to 150 sites. [1] | Base from one user, one user equals one device; Pro with 5 users included, additional users can be added; Enterprise on an individual basis. [16] |
| Storage | Free 2 GB, Standard 250 GB, Premium and Enterprise unlimited. [1] | Base 10 GB, Pro 20 GB per company, additional storage can be booked; Enterprise on an individual basis. [16] |
| Billing | In US dollars, including in quotes for customers in Europe. Monthly per user: users 1 to 100 cost the same price within each plan, and from the 101st user the price falls in tiers. Annually, a fixed price per user tier applies. Atlassian only charges VAT in the EU if neither a valid VAT ID nor proof of exemption is provided at the time of payment. Amounts in the section “How much does Confluence cost?”. [1] [2] [22] | In euros, net plus VAT; Base per user, Pro as a package with 5 users; cancellable monthly. [16] |
| Data location | Hosting on Amazon Web Services; data residency selectable from Standard, including the EU or Germany; default setting Global. [6] [9] | Files, knowledge index and semantic search on servers in Germany. The security overview describes the processing routes for each feature. [17] |
| AI processing | By default, Rovo dynamically chooses, per request, between open models hosted by Atlassian and models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google hosted by third parties. [7] | Answer generation by Nex via Mistral AI by default. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Langdock can optionally be connected, subject to the terms and processing locations of the respective provider. [17] [18] |
| Contracting party | Atlassian Pty Ltd; Irish law applies to customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. [11] [12] | Nexoria Systems UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Im Birkenfeld 7, 65779 Kelkheim. [19] |
What Nexoria offers as a Confluence alternative
Nexoria brings work with company knowledge together on one platform. At its core are your own knowledge store with Nexoria Drive, document search and the AI assistant Nex. On top of these come the tools your team uses to organise knowledge and put it to further use.
The core: store, find and query knowledge
- Your own knowledge store with Nexoria Drive. Your file storage, also as a drive in the familiar Windows File Explorer. Shared files become the basis for search and AI answers. More about Nexoria Drive
- Document search (Enterprise Search). You search in your own words or for exact terms and identifiers. Every result shows its source and a preview. More about document search
- Nex, the AI assistant. Nex answers questions based on the shared content of your workspace, refers to the documents used and summarises long documents. More about Nex
Building on this: organise and keep working
- Nexoria Office with Doc, Calc and Slides. Create and edit texts, spreadsheets and presentations in DOCX, XLSX and PPTX formats, right next to your body of knowledge. More about Nexoria Office
- Documents in Nex. In the Nex AI chat, you create presentations, technical reports and document comparisons from shared content and attached documents. You then continue editing the result in Slides or Doc. More about documents and presentations in the Nex AI chat
- Workspaces and permissions. Each workspace has its own knowledge base. You organise content, people and permissions by team or project, assign the roles Admin, Member or Viewer and invite external partners to Collab workspaces. A workspace's sharing permissions also apply to document search, Nex and chatbots. This lets you organise access to company knowledge to suit your teams and projects. More about Workspaces
- Text recognition (OCR) and transcription. Scans, images and audio recordings become searchable text and are thus added to your body of knowledge as well. More about speech and text recognition
- Tasks. An instruction in the chat turns into tasks and appointments, assigned to the right workspace.
- Chatbots. A chatbot answers questions on your website using shared company knowledge from the workspace it is assigned to. More about chatbots
- Configurable automations. Automations start workflows in a conversation with Nex or when an event occurs in the platform, such as a file upload. More about automations
Optional add-ons
With Nexoria Mail you connect your inboxes, handle messages with Nex and selectively add relevant attachments to your company knowledge. With Nexoria Meet you hold video conferences; if you wish, live transcription with Mistral runs alongside with the participants' consent, and you store the transcript and summary in the shared workspace. The VoiceBot takes calls, books appointments and passes on enquiries. You book Nexoria Mail and Nexoria Meet together as the Mail + Meet add-on, and the VoiceBot in addition to a Nexoria subscription: Nexoria Mail · Nexoria Meet · VoiceBot
Connect SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive
SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive can be connected as knowledge sources on request. We set up the integration depending on your environment and permissions. On request, we also check integrations with further storage, CRM, ERP and own systems. Scope, updates and permissions are defined for each integration.
Confluence Cloud, Data Center or Server: what is compared here
Confluence was available in three variants. As a new customer, you can only subscribe to Confluence Cloud today: Atlassian no longer sells Confluence Server and has not supported it since 15 February 2024, and Atlassian has not sold Confluence Data Center to new customers since 30 March 2026. Existing customers with Data Center can still buy and expand Data Center subscriptions until 30 March 2028 (according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026). Unless otherwise stated, the comparison on this page refers to Confluence Cloud.
Confluence Cloud
Atlassian operates Confluence Cloud as a service on the Free, Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans. All information in the comparison table and the pricing section refers to this variant.
Confluence Data Center
Data Center is the variant that companies operate themselves. Atlassian has announced the end of life of its Data Center products, and it explicitly applies to Confluence Data Center too; only Bitbucket Data Center and Jira Align Data Center are excluded. Each deadline ends at 23:59 PST:
- Since 30 March 2026 Atlassian has not sold Data Center subscriptions to new customers. A new customer is an organisation that never had paid Data Center licences before this date; subsidiaries of existing customers count as existing customers.
- Until 30 March 2028 existing customers can still buy new Data Center subscriptions and Marketplace apps, as well as expansions and upgrades of existing subscriptions. Renewals are possible for the existing number of users and apps, but cannot extend beyond 28 March 2029; a twelve-month renewal is then charged pro rata up to that date.
- On 28 March 2029 Confluence Data Center reaches its end of life. Subscriptions and associated apps expire, after which Confluence Data Center is read-only: pages can be viewed but no longer created or edited. Updates, support and new security fixes are then no longer provided.
Atlassian grants extended maintenance or multi-year renewals beyond 28 March 2029 only in individual cases. Until the cut-off date, Atlassian provides technical support, fixes for critical security vulnerabilities and connectors to the cloud. For the move, Atlassian points to the Atlassian Migration Program, cloud migration trials for the term of the Data Center subscription, step-up credits for eligible customers and dual licensing for larger customers.
Confluence Server
Atlassian ended support for its Server products on 15 February 2024. Since then, Confluence Server, which is explicitly named, has received neither support nor bug fixes.
What this means for your planning: Anyone currently running Confluence Server or Data Center is planning the next step. Data Center continues to run for existing customers until 28 March 2029, and is read-only after that. Anyone who has so far only run Confluence Server and has never had a paid Data Center subscription, either directly or via their parent company, counts as a new customer under Atlassian's definition and has not been able to buy Data Center since 30 March 2026. [14] The options are moving to Confluence Cloud, another wiki or a work platform such as Nexoria. If you want to continue self-hosting, you will find the details in the Nextcloud comparison.
How much does Confluence cost?
Confluence Cloud is available in four plans: Free, Standard, Premium and Enterprise. What you pay depends on the plan, number of users and billing method. Atlassian quotes list prices in US dollars and also issues quotes for customers in Europe in US dollars; we do not convert the amounts. The pricing page does not mention taxes: Atlassian only charges VAT on orders from the EU if neither a valid VAT ID nor proof of exemption is provided at the time of payment (according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026).
Confluence Cloud plans and prices
List prices according to the official Atlassian pricing table, checked separately on , in US dollars. The list prices shown for 13 October 2026 (Pacific Time) apply to new purchases, renewals, plan or user tier upgrades and new quotes. Quotes that are already valid remain valid until they expire. [32][33]
| Number of users | Billing | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 users | monthly | USD 7.15 per user per month | USD 14.10 per user per month |
| 50 users | monthly | USD 7.15 per user per month | USD 14.10 per user per month |
| 300 users | monthly | USD 5.78 per user per month (average) | USD 11.16 per user per month (average) |
| 10 users (tier 1 to 10) | annually | USD 720 per year | USD 1,400 per year |
| 50 users (tier 26 to 50) | annually | USD 3,600 per year | USD 7,100 per year |
| 300 users (tier 201 to 300) | annually | USD 17,500 per year | USD 33,500 per year |
- Monthly billing: Atlassian charges each user within their tier. On Standard, users 1 to 100 cost USD 7.15 each, users 101 to 250 cost USD 5.45 each and users 251 to 1,000 cost USD 4.05 each per month; on Premium, the same tiers cost USD 14.10, 10.20 and 8.15. Up to 100 users, the price per user therefore stays the same; the figure for 300 users is the average across this tiered pricing. For 300 users, this comes to USD 1,735.00 per month for Standard (100 × 7.15 + 150 × 5.45 + 50 × 4.05) and USD 3,347.50 for Premium (100 × 14.10 + 150 × 10.20 + 50 × 8.15). The averages are rounded to two decimal places. [32]
- Annual billing: Atlassian charges a fixed price for the user tier that your number of users falls into.
- Free: USD 0, permanently for up to 10 users, with 2 GB of file storage.
- Enterprise: annual billing only. The pricing calculator shows a list price from 801 users; for smaller numbers of users, Atlassian refers you to its sales team.
- Other numbers of users: The current amount for your number of users and billing method is shown by the pricing calculator on the Atlassian pricing page.
How much does AI cost in Confluence?
Rovo, Atlassian's AI, is included at no extra cost in Standard, Premium and Enterprise, but not in the Free plan. It requires a verified company domain of the organisation admin. For Confluence as a standalone product, an allowance applies per user: in Standard 25 Rovo credits per user per month and 100 indexed objects per user, in Premium 70 credits and 250 objects, in Enterprise 150 credits and 625 objects; according to Atlassian, the Teamwork Collection includes ten times as many credits. Atlassian pools the credits across all apps in the organisation and resets them monthly, even with annual billing; unused credits expire. Storing indexed objects does not consume credits. Under the pricing table that has applied since 31 August 2026, the AI features embedded in the apps do not consume credits, including Rovo Search in Atlassian apps, definitions and summaries. Simple chat answers (Quick answers) and simple agents without model selection cost 10 credits per billable interaction, and in Rovo Chat each user message counts as one interaction. Cross-cutting searches and summaries via Teamwork Graph, for example via Rovo MCP or with connected external tools, consume credits depending on the effort involved.
According to the Rovo documentation, Atlassian has announced billing from 3 December 2026 for overage beyond the organisation-wide allowance, at a list price of USD 0.01 per credit (USD 10 per 1,000 credits; as of 29.09.2026). According to the usage-based pricing page, this date applies to most meters and may depend on the feature and billing cycle; Atlassian communicates the date for your organisation separately.
The Atlassian sources checked on 13 October 2026 contradict each other on the default setting: the Rovo documentation and the usage-based pricing page describe additional usage as switched on by default; the FAQ on the pricing change requires explicit approval by billing admins before it is billed. Check your organisation's setting and spending limit before activation or renewal. [33][34][35]
AI is activated automatically in Standard, Premium and Enterprise. Organisation admins can deactivate it. The core apps Search and Studio then continue to work; AI apps such as Rovo Chat and Agents are no longer available (information according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026).
How much does Nexoria cost by comparison?

Benefit: You get a knowledge store, search, AI and Office from a single source. Nex is part of the core product, and document search does not consume AI tokens; it remains available even when the allowance is used up.
How much does Nexoria cost for your team?
The following examples show the monthly costs of the core product for 5, 10 and 25 booked users/devices. One user equals one device.
| Booked users/devices | Base per month | Pro per month |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 145 € | 299 € |
| 10 | 290 € | 399 € |
| 25 | 725 € | 699 € |
Base: number of users × €29. Pro: €299 for the first five users, plus €20 for each additional user. The plans include different AI and storage allowances. Additional storage, optional add-ons and setup charged by effort are things you plan for according to your needs. You can find the current plans and included services under Pricing.

How to compare the offers: The two providers charge differently. Atlassian quotes list prices in US dollars, per user with tiered pricing from the 101st user for monthly billing and as a fixed price per user tier for annual billing; Atlassian only charges VAT in the EU if neither a valid VAT ID nor proof of exemption is provided at the time of payment. Nexoria quotes prices in euros, net plus VAT, per user on the Base plan and as a package with 5 users on the Pro plan. The scope of services also differs. So put both offers side by side for your number of users and billing method, and compare which tasks your team can cover with them.
Combining wiki and document work effectively
For editorial wiki work, Confluence offers the following features (information according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026):
- Your team works closely with Jira. Jira work items can be embedded directly in Confluence pages. Where documentation and work items are this closely linked, Confluence is the obvious tool.
- You want to maintain knowledge as a wiki. Page tree, page versioning, templates, macros and databases are included in all Confluence plans, as are whiteboards (Free 3 and Standard 10 active whiteboards per user, unlimited from Premium).
- You need finely graded permissions down to individual content. Confluence distinguishes between global permissions, space permissions and restrictions on individual content, customisable from the Standard plan.
- You are planning a wiki-based intranet. The “Dynamic intranet” (company hub) is included in Premium and Enterprise.
- You need a very large amount of file storage in the wiki. Premium and Enterprise list unlimited file storage.
- You are planning very large installations. Atlassian specifies up to 250,000 users per site and, on the Enterprise plan, up to 150 sites.
Combining both: If your team maintains editorial pages in the wiki and also needs a place for documents, files and the work done with them, both tools can be used side by side. Confluence then remains the wiki, while Nexoria handles documents and files, Office work, and search and AI answers across the document collection in Nexoria.
European alternative to Confluence: where your data is stored
For data protection officers and IT procurement, what matters is where data is stored and processed and who the contracting party is.
For Nexoria
- Provider: Nexoria Systems UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Kelkheim (Taunus), Hesse.
- Files, knowledge and search: Files and the knowledge index are stored on servers in Germany. Semantic search runs there too.
- AI answers: Answers from Nex are generated by Mistral AI by default. Nex helps your team use shared content as answers with source citations.
- External AI models, optional: If you wish, you can connect ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Langdock using your own account with the respective provider and an MCP integration from Nexoria. Shared content is then transferred to the respective provider, and that provider's terms, processing locations and settings apply. Nexoria also works without these integrations.
- Other data flows: Technical error monitoring, payment processing, optional add-ons and enabled integrations have their own data flows, such as Sentry (based in the USA), Stripe, the optional VoiceBot, and Microsoft Graph and Gmail when an email integration is enabled. Providers and processing locations are listed in the security overview and in the processing register.
- Documents for your review: The processing register can be viewed publicly. Answers to typical questions from IT and data protection are collected in the Evaluator FAQ. What data residency means is explained in the data residency glossary.
For Atlassian Confluence Cloud (according to Atlassian, as of 29.09.2026)
- Hosting: Atlassian runs Confluence Cloud on Amazon Web Services in several geographically separate regions with Availability Zones. If no data residency is selected, the Global location applies: at sign-up, Atlassian stores the data in the region closest to the majority of users and can then move it between all AWS regions.
- Data residency: Selectable in Standard, Premium and Enterprise, including the EU (Frankfurt and Dublin) or Germany (Frankfurt). The default setting is Global; organisation admins can set a default location, which suitable apps activated later will adopt. Exceptions exist, for example, for unsupported regions or differing settings for customer-managed keys. For Confluence, the configuration of permissions and restrictions, space keys and AI data cannot be pinned to a region, nor can user account data, app analytics and logs, among others. Separate data residency rules apply to Rovo: chat session logs, agent configurations, bookmarks and ingested third-party content, among others, can be pinned to a region. Confluence data in the Rovo search index remains bound to the data residency of Confluence. Depending on data volume, a region move can mean up to 24 hours of downtime; during reindexing, which can take up to three days depending on data volume, search may be temporarily disabled. [31]
- AI: By default, Rovo dynamically chooses, per request, between open models hosted by Atlassian and models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google hosted by third parties. For this, data leaves the site; according to Atlassian, the third-party providers operate with zero data retention. Models hosted exclusively by Atlassian are available on request for Cloud Enterprise. AI sub-processors include AWS Bedrock and Google Vertex AI (each in locations including the USA and the EEA) and OpenAI (USA).
- Contract and data protection: The contracting party is Atlassian Pty Ltd, and Irish law applies to customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In the Data Processing Addendum, Atlassian acts as a processor, and the Standard Contractual Clauses are incorporated for transfers from the EU. Atlassian participates by self-certification in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, including the extension for the United Kingdom, and in the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and informs customers who have signed up for notifications about new sub-processors at least 30 days in advance.
Frequently asked questions about the Confluence alternative
What alternatives to Confluence are there?
There are three types: cloud wiki software, self-hosted or open-source wikis, and work platforms with a knowledge store, document search and AI. A cloud wiki fits if your team maintains knowledge editorially as pages. A self-hosted wiki fits if you want to take on operation and maintenance yourself. Nexoria belongs to the third type: your team stores documents, finds them through document search by meaning, queries them with Nex in natural language and continues working directly in Nexoria Office with Doc, Calc and Slides.
Is Nexoria a replacement for Confluence?
That depends on how your team works with knowledge. If your knowledge is created mainly in documents, spreadsheets, presentations, minutes and scans, Nexoria maps this work onto one platform: storage in Nexoria Drive, document search, answers from Nex with source citations, Nexoria Office, Documents in Nex, tasks and automations. If your team uses Confluence mainly as a wiki with a page tree and close links to Jira, Confluence remains the place for those pages. Alongside it, Nexoria handles work with documents and files as well as search and AI answers across the content in Nexoria.
Can I use Confluence for free?
Yes. According to Atlassian (as of 29 September 2026), the Free plan of Confluence Cloud is permanently free for up to 10 users per site and includes 2 GB of file storage. If you add more than 10 users, Atlassian automatically switches to a 7-day trial of the Standard plan. Permissions and restrictions cannot be customised on the Free plan. Rovo and data residency are only included from the Standard plan. If you are looking for a free or open-source alternative, you will find an assessment in the Guide to choosing knowledge management software.
Who is Confluence a good fit for, and what should you check in advance?
Confluence is a particularly good fit if your team works closely with Jira and maintains knowledge editorially as a wiki. For your planning, it is worth checking these points in advance (information according to Atlassian, as of 29 September 2026): Atlassian quotes prices and offers for customers in Europe in US dollars, per user for monthly billing and per user tier for annual billing; Atlassian only charges VAT in the EU if neither a valid VAT ID nor proof of exemption is provided at the time of payment, and the pricing calculator shows the amount for your number of users. For the list prices checked separately on 13 October 2026, the following applies: the list prices shown for 13 October 2026 (Pacific Time) apply to new purchases, renewals, plan or user tier upgrades and new quotes. Quotes that are already valid remain valid until they expire. Rovo works with credit allowances that are calculated per user and pooled across the organisation; billing of overage has been announced for most meters from 3 December 2026, and the exact date may depend on the feature and billing cycle. Data residency is available from the Standard plan, but its scope differs by app and data type. User account data and certain Confluence data are excluded; separate rules apply to Rovo. So check the specific features and data types you use. Anyone running Confluence Data Center is planning the next step because of the end of life on 28 March 2029.
Is Jira the same as Confluence?
No. Jira and Confluence are two separate Atlassian products that can be connected. In Jira, teams track work items; in Confluence, they write pages in spaces. According to Atlassian (as of 29 September 2026), Jira work items can be embedded in Confluence pages as a list or as a count, using search or JQL.
What is an alternative to Confluence Server or Data Center?
Support for Confluence Server ended on 15 February 2024. Confluence Data Center reaches its end of life on 28 March 2029 and is then read-only; new customers have not been able to buy Data Center since 30 March 2026 (according to Atlassian, as of 29 September 2026). The options are moving to Confluence Cloud, another self-hosted wiki or a work platform such as Nexoria. Nexoria fits if your knowledge is mainly contained in documents and your team needs to find it via document search and Nex and continue editing it in Nexoria Office. Files and the knowledge index are stored on servers in Germany, where search also runs; answers from Nex are generated by Mistral AI by default.
Is there a European alternative to Confluence?
Yes. Nexoria is a European work platform from Nexoria Systems UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Kelkheim (Taunus). Files, the knowledge index and semantic search are hosted on servers in Germany, and answers from the AI assistant Nex are generated by Mistral AI by default. Optionally connected external AI models, other services and enabled integrations have their own data flows, which Nexoria discloses in the security overview and the processing register. Confluence Cloud also offers data residency in the EU or in Germany from the Standard plan, with exceptions for individual data types (according to Atlassian, as of 29 September 2026).
Can Confluence and Nexoria be used side by side?
Yes. Confluence remains the place for editorially maintained wiki pages and documentation relating to Jira. Nexoria handles documents and files, work in Doc, Calc and Slides, and search and AI answers across this content. Record which content is maintained in the wiki and which documents are stored in Nexoria Drive, so that your team finds every topic in one place.
How do we evaluate moving an existing Confluence area?
Choose an area that your team actually uses, with typical pages, attachments and internal links. Record which content will be needed as files or guides in future and which existing wiki features remain important. Using this example, check the available export and transfer routes, the required output format, the target structure and any rework. Have one person who reads and one who maintains content go through their usual workflow. This shows you what scope can be transferred and what should remain in the existing system. The selection guide walks you through the comparison using your own content.
How do we plan reader roles and the total cost of switching?
Record the roles that read and those that edit, as well as the devices they need. With Nexoria, one user equals one device; the same user unit cannot be used on several devices at the same time. So plan with the booked devices you actually need. Also record existing systems and add-ons you want to keep using, as well as the agreed setup, integrations and ongoing maintenance. Together with the current plans this gives you the cost framework for your specific scope of work.
